Our History

NFTE Bay Area began operations in 1994 through a generous start-up grant from The William H. Donner Foundation. Since then, we have taught over 7,000 students from Alameda, Lake, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties the basics of starting and operating a small business. Our entrepreneurial education programs are achieved through productive partnerships with schools and community-based organizations, our summer programs at Bay Area universitites including BizCamp and “NFTE University,” and an active alumni program. NFTE Bay Area operates as a regional office and has a supportive relationship with the NFTE National office in New York City. NFTE Bay Area secures all funding locally and has an active Advisory Board.
